Day #114
IT’S A BOY GIRL THING
The next door neighbors Nell Bedworth and Woody Deane have opposite behaviors and hate each other: the virgin geek Nell is polite, sensitive and well-prepared to go to Yale, while Woody is rude and his greatest expectation is to join a mediocre university due to his abilities playing football. When Nell and Woody are assigned to visit a museum together, they argue in front of a statue of an Aztec god. During the night, their souls swap bodies, bringing difficult situations to them. They first try to damage each other’s reputation in high school, but soon they discover that their dream of joining college can only happen with mutual respect and support.
This movie was hilarious, I loved watching it. Think Freaky Friday but even more fun to watch because it’s between a boy and a girl. It was just fantastic and both Kevin and Samaire where great. It’s not that easy to act like someone completely different, including in gender but they did a phenomenal job. I just enjoyed it so much because they react exactly like you think they would, trying to ruin each other’s lives as much as they can. Eventually though, they start to understand each other and help each other get the things they want more than anything. And they get together in the end, not without some drama along the way but of course that makes it just so much better.

TOOLBOX MURDERS
Nell and her husband Steven are looking for a business, as well as a home, when they come across the Lusman Arms apartment block. They move in and begin renovating the building, in which a series of weird killings begin to take place. When she finally discovers the supernatural evil behind it all, she gets more than she bargained for!
This movie was creepy. This couple is down on their luck, they move into what turns out to be a rather shitty apartment building, and this psycho starts killing off people in the building. Add on top of that the element of the occult and supernatural and you’ve got a thriller to keep you on your toes until the end.

Day #112
CRANK: HIGH VOLTAGE
Chev Chelios survives a fall from the sky, sort of. He’s in an unknown location, sedated, while various Chinese are harvesting his organs. His heart is gone, in an ice chest; a temporary in its place. Chev escapes, knowing only the name of the guy with the ice chest. He calls Doc Miles, an unlicensed cardiologist, who tells him there’s only an hour’s life in the artificial heart: keep it charged. Chev needs to find his own heart and get to Doc for a transplant. He starts his time-limited pursuit of shadowy figures, the ice chest, and his heart aided by Eve, Rei, and Venus - a stripper, a prostitute, and a pal with Tourette’s - constantly needing an electric charge to keep going.
I am all over the place with not watching the first film but watching the sequel lately, but whatever. This movie was on the television and I enjoyed it so freaking much. The people we meet along the way that help – or hinder in some cases – Chev as he battles to get his heart back are both amazing and hilarious at the same time. The film has the perfect mix of action and funny scenes to keep you entertained the whole time.

Day #111
SLEEPING BEAUTY
Lucy is a university student who is working a number of jobs. She volunteers at a research lab, works at a coffee shop, and as a photocopy clerk in an office. She responds to an advertisement and embarks on an erotic freelance job in which she is required to sleep in bed alongside paying customers.
This movie was erotic yet disturbing at the same time which why I think I liked it. There is darkness in this film, a sinister undertone that permeates everything. Emily Browning becomes almost a doll in the hands of these strangers while she’s asleep; therefore she has no memory of what’s been done to her. She’s doing all of these things, including this for money that she needs to live and to get an education. These are seemingly valid reasons to do something rather horrible to get money. It’s a creepy yet totally could be reality concept to be confronted with. I mean think about it, how far would you go to get money that you desperately needed?

Day #110
THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO [US VERSION]
This English-language adaptation of the Swedish novel by Stieg Larsson follows a disgraced journalist, Mikael Blomkvist, as he investigates the disappearance of a wealthy patriarch’s niece from 40 years ago. He is aided by the pierced, tattooed, punk computer hacker named Lisbeth Salander. As they work together in the investigation, Blomkvist and Salander uncover immense corruption beyond anything they have ever imagined.
After watching the Swedish trilogy I was determined to see if the US version stood up to the hype. It was good, Rooney and Daniel did phenomenal jobs as Salander and Blomkvist, but I felt something was missing. Perhaps it wasn’t as gritty as I had hoped it would be, but the Swedish version was pretty brutal so I was a bit underwhelmed. I felt like the film cut back on how badass Lisbeth is and focused more on Mikael whereas the Swedish version was all about how Lisbeth was this powerhouse who ended up helping him because she was still hacking his computer and got interested. Considering that the US is much more into male dominated movies, even when there are more than capable female characters and actresses might have something to do with it as well.
Now it’s time to read the book and see how both movies stack up to what I’ve seen. Woot!

Day #109
FORGET ME NOT
It’s graduation weekend, and Sandy Channing, the popular class president of her small-town high school, should be enjoying the time of her life. But when her friends start disappearing, Sandy discovers they have unwittingly awakened the vengeful spirit of a girl they wronged long ago. Fighting for her sanity, Sandy must unlock a dark secret from her own past before it’s too late.
This movie likes to fuck with the viewer’s mind as well as the main heroine’s as well. It leads you down the road where you start to doubt your sanity, but you know these things have happened, they’re real but no one remembers. How that part is fitted so perfectly into the rest of the plot twists is just phenomenal. There are so many different things going on I think I’d have to watch it again to really get all of them.

Day #108
ONE MISSED CALL
After the death of their friend Shelley, Leann Cole receives a voice mail from the future of the date and time when she would die. On the scheduled day, Leann sees weird things and in the precise informed hour, Leann is attacked by a supernatural force on a footbridge over a train station while talking to her friend Beth Raymond. Beth meets Leann’s boyfriend Brian, who also received a call, and witnesses his death on the street. When her roommate Taylor Anthony receives a call, Beth befriends Det. Jack Andrews, who tells her that his sister was the first victim of the phone call. They decide to investigate the connections of Jack’s sister and find the name of Marie Layton, who apparently abused of her daughters. Jack and Beth run against time trying to save Beth from her fate.
This has Shannyn who was absolutely phenomenal in the other movie I’ve watched with her, Catacombs. She’s just an amazing actress as well as the other actors and actresses in this film. The plot of this film was also interesting, I enjoyed that aspect of it, the twists and turns in it as they’re trying to figure out how to stay alive.

WHAT DREAMS MAY COME
Chris Neilson dies to find himself in a heaven more amazing than he could have ever dreamed of. There is one thing missing: his wife. After he dies, his wife, Annie killed herself and went to hell. Chris decides to risk eternity in hades for the small chance that he will be able to bring her back to heaven.
I watched this with my brother and it was quite interesting to behold. To think, that when we die this is what happens, that we can choose who come back as, what we look like. It’s quite interesting to have a man so in love with his wife that he’d risk losing his very sanity to get her back from the clutches of hell. And he does, he eventually gets his whole family back, but they choose to be reincarnated, to find each other again. It was so beautiful.

A TURTLE’S TALE: SAMMY’S ADVENTURES
A sea turtle Sammy, who was hatched in 1959 spends the next 50 years traveling the world while it is being changed by global warming. He encounters many creatures and has quite a lot of adventures along the way while looking for a mate.
I watched this with my niece when she came over on Friday [May 5th]. It was quite cute and I actually really enjoyed it. I’m a sucker for turtles and kids movies are cute but still have some drama going on in them. Plus I know there’s going to be a happy ending since we can’t have anyone crying at the end if it doesn’t work out.

Day #105
LOCKOUT
In the near future a former CIA agent is wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He’s offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from a controversial new outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.
I saw this on April 18th with my sister while our parents watched The Hunger Games. Guy Pearce is fucking amazing in this, he’s funny yet brash and just awesome as all hell as Snow. Snow is just a badass mofo in all honesty, and I love the twists and turns that his character takes with whose set him up and who he can trust or not trust.
The plot of the movie is just mind blowing in some aspects with how they’re treating criminals, putting them to sleep so they can go through their sentence on a prison in space without riots or problems with other inmates. Fat chance that actually works and it doesn’t, they end up revolting and all hell breaks loose anyways.
